This is a large (10.5 inches in diameter) hand-painted Nippon bowl.  Main body of bowl is a very light-creamy-white, with a garden scene including paintings of women playing instruments, and a mother and daughter, painted with greens, blues, reds and greys.  Gold accents around everything. Underside is more white, less creamy.
As I see it, item is in excellent condition, with no visible glazing, cracks or chips.  Nor do I see much evidence of use and no visible scratches or other usage defects.  Minimal wear on bottom.

Original or Reproduction:
It's very difficult to tell the difference between original Nippon (1891-1921) and reproductions (1950s-1990s).  If original, this was imported from Japan likely between 1911 and 1921.  Item bears the mark of Morimura Bros ("M" in a wreath in green), from which I date the importation.  Markings of "Nippon" ended in 1921 when the US Customs required that all items from Japan be marked "Japan" not "Nippon".
I acquired the piece from my parents, who were avid travelers and collectors of original Nippon.  That does not guarantee that this is an original.  The weight of the item is heavier and the walls are thicker than might be expected from an original.  Therefore, I can only say that I would error on the side of reproduction.  You can decide.  I make no claims one way or the other.
